Have you ever tried to
mimic the expression of a
face in a painting or
perhaps one in a picture?

Sometimes I shift my mouth
and change the position of
my eyebrows to match the face
staring back at me

and sometimes I try to
hold the awkward fixation of
my face and quickly make
my way to the bedroom

mirror where I would see
how close of a likeness
I made to my unknowingly,
modeling friend ib the paper.

Soon, however, I can no
longer bear to look upon
the person who is not
me, who is not real.
